Hey, what's up? It's Nick with Bearded Adventures. Yeah, I know. It's an in-kind-of-studio video.
00:08
I said I wasn't going to do those anymore. Well, it's like negative 15 outside and I'm
00:14
not going to do a walking, talking, vlog video in the freezing cold. So, here we are. Today,
00:22
we're going to talk about EDC or everyday carry. A little background on myself. I've
00:29
worked in skilled trades for 25 plus years and I've carried around a whole pocket full
00:34
of handy gadgets and gear. Up until about 10 years ago, I started working for a prison,
00:41
which I cannot carry any of that stuff anymore. Have you ever changed jobs or taken a new
00:48
position where you're not able to do a habit that you were doing for like 15 years? Let
00:54
me know in the comments if you have. But yeah, so I work for a prison now. I'm not able to
00:58
carry that gear. So, I found this little pouch. I know it's taking me 10 years, but anyways,
00:65
I found this little pouch that I like to carry now. It does have a fire starting, a couple knives,
00:75
a flashlight, some pens, and then a multi-tool in one pocket. And the other pocket, if you open
00:81
up, it's like an admin pocket, a battery, and charging capabilities, and a notebook. And I'm
00:89
still building this out. So, it's relatively new to carrying this pouch with me, but it's great.
00:95
It's a nice waxed canvas pouch. I can grab it, throw it in a backpack if I need to, or I can
00:100
put it in the door of the truck or car, and then it comes with me pretty much everywhere I want to
00:106
go. I still try to carry the basic stuff, basic EDC stuff with me on the times I'm not working
00:112
at the prison, which can be hard sometimes. I do forget to grab stuff or I want to grab a knife,
00:117
and I don't have it with me because at the prison, I can't have it with me. My wife bought this
00:122
little rack. It was a kitchen rack. She bought it really to set up, to clean up my little area,
00:128
you know, that area that everyone puts their stuff that they have in their pockets or set down. You
00:134
know, a lot of people put it on the dresser. Mine happens to be in the kitchen on one of our
00:137
counters. So, she bought this fancy little wired shelf. She probably didn't intend it to be what
00:146
it is now, but it was more of a charging area for different things. But it's a two-tiered rack.
00:153
I can put some of my EDC stuff on that, and then also can charge different things in the rack.
00:160
But I put my EDC stuff on it, so when I get home from work or from the prison, which I wasn't
00:166
allowed to carry a knife in, I can grab a knife and throw in my pocket, and then I have a knife
00:170
for me the rest of the day. It's funny how a small inexpensive rack from Amazon can be a world of
00:177
help. That's it for this video. I will link in the description the Amazon links for the little
00:184
rack and this pouch. They're both really inexpensive. But yeah, I hope this helped you out,
00:191
and I hope to see you on the trail.
